Revitalize Your Work Management Platform

A Guide to Ongoing Change Management

Digital Employee Experience

I've been musing about this crazy time of year. The second half shift of gears as a silent panic sets in that you're running out of time. Reaching for a scrap of paper to jot down another note, I'm realizing that I'm getting caught in the frenzy too. Defaulting to old habits that no longer serve me seems to be the order of the day. Our customers are voicing the same frustrations.

Remember that exhilarating moment when your organization embarked on a digital transformation journey? The promises of streamlined processes, enhanced collaboration, and a bright future filled with efficiency and success? Fast forward to the present—your high-tech tools are collecting digital dust, old habits are sneaking back in, and your once-cohesive team seems more like a group of lone rangers.

Fret-worthy for sure, but I'm here to remind you that you're not alone. It's all too common for the initial enthusiasm surrounding a new work management platform to wane as time passes, roles shift, and the chaos of daily tasks takes over. But fear not, for change management is here to save the day and breathe new life into your work processes.

You see, much like that first spark of excitement when you implemented your shiny new platform, breathing life into its use requires a strategic approach that needs to be ongoing. Just as the foundation of your digital transformation journey was laid with careful planning and execution, the journey to sustained success involves nurturing, aligning, and optimizing.

After multiple recent customer discussions around the treadmill of change, I was prompted to re-read our February post on "The Science of Change Management in Digital Transformation." It brilliantly dissected the human response to organizational change. For purposes of clarity, let's refer to that important piece as your phase 1.

Today I'm sharing your roadmap for the next leg of your journey—a journey to keep the spark alive, ensuring your work management platform continues to deliver on its promises; phase 2.

1. Reassess, Realign, Refocus: Start from Within

Begin by taking a step back and evaluating where you stand. Are you leveraging your work management platform to its full potential, or have you slipped back into old routines? Realign your team's objectives with the original vision. Reflect on the core principles outlined in the previous piece and identify where you've strayed. Embrace the fact that change is ongoing, and just as technology evolves, so should your approach to using it.

2. Open Dialogue: Listen and Learn

Engage your team in open conversations about their experiences with the work management platform. What's working? What's not? What challenges are they facing? Listen attentively and learn from their feedback.

Embrace the Scott & Jaffe Model of Change Management, realizing that people progress through phases—denial, resistance, exploration, and commitment—at different speeds. Use this insight to tailor your approach to each individual's needs.

3. Embrace Agile Change Management: Flexibility is Key

In this fast-paced world, change management needs to be as agile as your work management platform. Develop a nimble change management strategy that can pivot and adapt to your team's evolving needs. Just as you embrace agile methodologies for projects, apply the same principles to managing change. Regularly reassess and adjust your approach, keeping your team engaged and committed to the journey.

4. Keep the Momentum Alive: Celebrate Small Wins

Big transformations are often achieved through a series of small victories. Celebrate every success, no matter how minor it may seem. Acknowledge and reward individuals and teams who embrace the platform's potential and actively contribute to its success. By celebrating these achievements, you'll foster a culture of continuous improvement and motivate others to join the journey.

5. Leverage Technology to Drive Change

It's only fitting that technology should play a role in driving change within a digital transformation initiative. Leverage your work management platform's capabilities to support ongoing change efforts. Use it as a hub for communication, collaboration, and sharing best practices. Create spaces for dialogue, where team members can exchange insights, offer support, and learn from one another.

6. Stay Curious and Stay Committed: The Journey is Endless

Change is not a one-and-done endeavor—it's a perpetual voyage. As you work to maintain alignment and optimize your work management platform, stay curious. Encourage your team to explore new features, experiment with different approaches, and continuously seek ways to enhance efficiency. By embracing an unquenchable thirst for improvement, you'll keep the spirit of change alive.

So, my fellow champions of transformation, it's time to reignite that spark, bridge the gaps, and rekindle the excitement that once fueled your digital journey. The second half of the year is the perfect time to commit to ongoing change management. Let your wisdom guide you as you navigate the ever-evolving landscape of work, or reach out to us if you need some more inspiration.

Remember, change is the constant that propels progress. As you adapt, innovate, and collaborate, your work management platform will once again become the catalyst for positive change, a tool that empowers your team to conquer challenges, embrace new horizons, and thrive in the ever-changing digital frontier.

Your team's success is your destination, and with ongoing change management as your compass, there's no limit to what you can achieve.

Yours in constant evolution, Tracey.
